January Trips: Day 3: Laguna

The day after the wedding, we packed back and we're up for another 2-hour drive going to Laguna. It was quite a long travel but because it was our first time, excitement was on its way first. We headed to Villa Escudero in San Pablo, Laguna.

It is the "hacienda" of the Escudero family handed down from generation to generation. Based on our guides, the hectares of land owned by the Escudero family was first made as a coconut plantation only before it became a tourist attraction for both locals and foreigners.

If you are a person who loves nature, history and culture, then you would enjoy being at Villa Escudero. Being there is a full package. From dining to recreations like swimming, carabao riding and rafting, one day might not be enough. :) I hope to go back there and have more time on their museum. Maybe you'll find me boring but I love listening about history and seeing with my own two eyes what it's like before through antique collections. Sad to say picture taking was prohibited at the museum so I brought no memories for me. *sigh*

Carabao ride. BTW, they name each carabao. Luckily, "Mutya" was at our service. :)

first time riders.

cultural show. showcasing "sabong" as a Filipino tradition.

residential house of the Escudero's within the hacienda.

the chapel turned into museum. Lots of art and history inside.

Japanese wartime relic

old aviation used during the Japanese war.

tour bus.

Waterfalls restaurant. cool isn't it?

Bamboo rafting at Lake Labasin.

One of the many villas found inside the hacienda

you can find statues like these anywhere. It's kinda creepy during the night.

there's history right there.

cafe just beside the lake.

I can remember my great grandparents house with that chair. ;)
